H.O.N. — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-11-01

H.O.N. ("the app", "we") is a strength-training tracker. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Short version: your training and health data stays on your device and your private iCloud; we never sell it. Anonymous crash reports are on by default (you can turn them off in Settings), and behavioral analytics are anonymous and off until you opt in.

What we collect

On-device data (not sent to us). Your workouts, sets, routines, body metrics, and profile are stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own private iCloud container. We do not have access to this data and it is never transmitted to our servers (the app has no user accounts and no backend that stores your training data).

Apple Health data (read on-device only). With your explicit permission, the app reads metrics such as sleep, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and workouts from Apple Health to calculate your readiness score and recommendations. If you leave workout import on (Settings), it also reads workouts recorded by other apps — for example a HIIT session from the Fitness app — and adds them to your history, including their duration, calories, and average heart rate. This processing happens entirely on your device. H.O.N. does not transmit, sell, or share your Health data, never uses it for advertising, and does not store Health-derived data in iCloud: imported workouts and readiness data stay on the device they were read on. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. With your permission, the app also writes your completed workouts (duration, calories, and heart rate) back to Apple Health.

Apple Watch. If you use the H.O.N. Apple Watch app, workout details (sets, reps, weight) and live heart rate pass directly between your iPhone and your watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity and HealthKit. Nothing is sent to us.

Crash reports (on by default). If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report — a stack trace and basic device state — is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so the crash can be found and fixed. Crash reporting is on by default and has its own switch: turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share Crash Reports. Unless you have also opted in to analytics, crash reports carry no identifier we could link to you (Firebase assigns its own anonymous installation ID to group crash reports) and no record of what you did in the app — no name, email, or workout content, and nothing linked to your identity. If you opt in to analytics and then turn it off part-way through a session, diagnostic breadcrumbs already recorded in that session may remain until the app is next launched; nothing new is recorded once you turn it off.

Anonymous usage analytics (opt-in, off by default). If — and only if — you turn on analytics during onboarding or in Settings, the app sends anonymous product-usage events (e.g., which screens you visit, that a workout was logged) to our analytics provider (PostHog). With analytics on, a random install identifier links your sessions together and recent event names are attached to diagnostic reports. These contain no name, email, or workout content and are not linked to your identity. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings; it defaults to off.

Approximate location (for weather only, sent to a weather service). The home dashboard can show your local weather. To provide it, the app requests your approximate location (when-in-use, with accuracy reduced to roughly city level) and sends those coordinates to a third-party weather service, Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com), to fetch the current forecast. The coordinates are used only to return that weather — we do not store them, and they are never linked to your identity. Open-Meteo is an independent service with its own data practices, which we do not control. Location is optional: you can deny or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, and the rest of the app works normally without it.
